Louis Erard
Louis Erard was a Swiss watchmaker born in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1893. He established a watchmaking school in La Chaux-de- Fonds in 1929 and a case company known as Louis Erard & André Perret. In 1931, the brand produced the first watches under its name.
The new Louis Erard et Fils assembled and finished watches for better-known brands during the 1950s, launching a brand of its own, Crypton et Golana, in 1956. The company gained approval to produce its watch movements in 1957, focusing on ultra thin watches. In 2003, Louis Erard was acquired by Alain Spinedi and moved to Le Noirmont. Since then, the characteristic elements are its limited editions, power reserve indicators, regulator-type dials and artistic collaborations.
