Hermes Paints and Sews a Galloping Horse onto the Arceau
In a unique collaboration with Chinese artist Tong Ren, the latest Arceau Mon Premier Galop reimagines the brand’s quintessential equestrian motif, bringing the design to life through a blend of enameling, silk threading, and marquetry.

An alluring painting
More importantly, the portrayal is both clever and tasteful. The horse isn’t static but appears dynamic and galloping, adding a vibrant feel to the watch.

The blue sky and yellow sun, forming the background, are created using enameling. This technique requires multiple layers of paint and firing to achieve the desired color and depth.
The horse itself is a combination of silk thread threading and leather marquetry, each technique applied on a separate dial piece before being meticulously assembled. Among these, the silk threading is the most unconventional, adding a touch of dynamism by evoking the flowing lines of the horse’s tail and the forward movement of its legs.

Case and movement
Inside the watch beats the brand’s H1912 movement, which is made by Vaucher, a company in which Hermès holds a 25% stake. This automatic movement boasts a 50-hour power reserve.
