This past February, Schaffhausen-based watchmaker H. Moser & Cie announced they would be entering into sponsorship with Formula 1 racing team BWT Alpine F1. The sponsorship extends across all of Alpine’s motorsport endeavors, including but not limited to F1, Alpine Academy, and Alpine Endurance racing. Reportedly, the request for partnership came from the very top of Renault.

As it turns out Renault CEO Luca de Meo is something of a watch enthusiast. Not only that, he is a big fan of H. Moser & Cie. Thus, the command came down from high: BWT Alpine F1 (formerly Renault Sport Formula 1) needed a new watch sponsor for the team, and H. Moser & Cie was going to be that sponsor. Email introductions were sent and after the Brother’s Meylan determined that they were in fact not being trolled by someone pretending to be a Formula 1 team, the deal was done.

Shortly after this announcement, the brand got the attention of F1 and watch enthusiasts alike with the release of the Streamliner Skeleton Cylindrical Tourbillon Alpine Limited Edition, a wildly cool openwork tourbillon with a vibrant blue sapphire crystal miniature dial at the 12 o’clock position, limited to just 100 examples. Following up on this release, Moser announced a second, even more limited version of the team watch—a Pink Livery variation, highlighting the livery of Alpine’s partner BWT. The Streamliner Skeleton Cylindrical Tourbillon Limited Edition Pink Livery is limited to just 20 pieces and is priced at USD 98,000.

The watches themselves utilize the Streamliner case in its 42.3mm variation. But the effect that the skeletonization has on the overall presence and visual impact of the timepieces, lending an incredible dimensionality. While the bracelet on the Streamliner is always a crowd pleaser, paired with matching blue and pink rubber straps (respectively) the Alpine Limited editions take on an even more sporty and wearable air.

The Pink Livery edition was thus launched on the morning of the Miami Grand Prix, matching perfectly the vibrant, neon colors of Miami. Alongside the announcement, as though two back to back limited editions utilizing the absolutely insane HMC 811 movement isn’t exciting enough, Moser had one more thing to add: Pierre Gasly.

Gasly, who races alongside teammate Esteban Ocon, has personally partnered with H. Moser & Cie to represent them on and off the track. As a watch lover in his own right, Gasly is the first ambassador that Moser has ever partnered with in the history of the brand.
