Gucci Celebrates 50 Years of Watchmaking

A Half Century of Haute Horlogerie

Gucci is known for high fashion, quality materials and innovative design. Celebrating 50 years of making high quality timepieces with Gucci flair, the maison has created the Gucci Wonderland, which includes a fair at Lake Geneva where the brand will present its second collection of watches as a follow-up to the 2021 collection.

Three new models will join the watchmaker’s collection including a skeleton tourbillon, GTimeless Planetarium, a flying tourbillon with an innovative new take on dancing hours and a moonphase complication that only needs adjustment every 360 years.

G-Timeless Planetarium

Gucci G-Timeless Planetarium

With the G-Timeless Planetarium, Gucci has brought all of the drama and spectacle expected of the Italian fashion house. Colored gemstones create a ring around the dial that performs a rotating dance around the dial with the touch of a button. This is due to the innovations of the Gucci Dancing Hours Flying Tourbillon movement, the GGC.1976.DS caliber.

The G-Timeless Planetarium is available in several variations, including white, rose or yellow recycled gold, and gemstones in green tsavorite, blue tanzanite or yellow beryl. An intricate star at the center of the dial is an eye-catching detail for the beautiful piece. Bold and whimsical, the Planetarium is a playful take on elegance and high fashion, as well as a showcase for the technical mastery of the Swiss watchmakers.

At only 8mm thick, the G-Timeless Planetarium enters the arena of ultra-thin watches with style. The in-house movement is visible as part of the central dial decoration with a flying tourbillon at six o’clock that floats above the titanium bridges. The layering effect adds depth and three-dimensional interest with a sporty gray and blue colorway. The white and yellow gold bracelet is fully made from recycled materials, but there is also a rubber strap option.

With its skeletonized dial and industrial style, the watch exudes a modern and luxurious feel. The movement of the flying tourbillon also adds to the sporty look.

G-Timeless Moonlight

The G-Timeless Moonlight brings a touch of Old World class to the modern collection. An in-house movement, the Gucci GGV838.MP features a beautiful moonphase complication that shows two moons in their phases — from a delicate sliver to a luminous full moon — detailed in pink gold and white gold. The dial is crafted from natural meteorite for that perfect conversation starter, and is decorated with planets and stellar diamonds, including star-shaped indexes. The timepiece is handsome, and the alligator strap adds to the erudite aesthetic of the watch.
