All That Glitters… is the new Longines Mini DolceVita in 18k Gold

Longines has announced two new dazzling additions to the Mini DolceVita collection, additions that catapult the collection to new heights of elegance – and price. The Mini DolceVita is now offered, for the first time, in solid 18k yellow gold and 18k Rose gold. This release is further elevated by the choice of either a matching solid gold bracelet, or on a tapered black alligator strap with matching gold pin buckle (the latter option is presented sans diamonds).

The DolceVita collection has long been a staple of Longines’ diverse and often vintage inspired offerings. Indeed, the collection itself traces its roots back to a series of rectangular timepieces from the 1920s, with small square watches predating those as early as 1910 (or thereabouts). Nearly 100 years ago, these watches laid the bedrock for some of Longines’ most elegant and favored watches today.

Thus, in 2023, a new piece joined the collection, the Mini DolceVita, a smaller, dressier, and even more elegant watch was born. Often adorned with diamonds and other formal trappings (bracelets, multiple wrap leather straps, etc.) the Mini DolceVita opened up a new category of offerings for Longines customers and collectors. But despite its appeal, there was always something about the collection that was, to be frank, missing.

You see, the Mini DolceVita was only offered in steel variations. With that initial offering, a whole new category of elegant, dress, and feminine timepiece opened up. By utilizing the high precision L178 Quartz movement, the price of the Mini DolceVita remained accessible, while the addition of bracelets, dial variations, strap options (including a limited edition in celebration of the Kentucky Derby’s 150th Anniversary) there was ample opportunity to accessorize the piece and adapt it to daytime or evening with great ease.

As lovely and relatively accessible in terms of pricing as these watches are (even with the inclusion of diamond accents) it always felt that the collection was a touch incomplete. The hallmark of a fine dress watch is the combination of understated elegance witch is elevated by either material or design. With the addition of these two new pieces in 18k gold, the entirety of the collection is immediately elevated – like the Mini DolceVita has, in a way, reached its final form. In much the same way as the Master GMT Gold, the arrival of these watches also continues the elevation of Longines to a higher echelon of offering in terms of its pricing category – one where it very much deserves to be.
