TAG Heuer Celebrates the 2nd Las Vegas Grand Prix with a Vibrant New Monaco Chronograph
As the 2024 Formula 1 season approaches its end, with just a few races remaining on the calendar, the grid returns to Las Vegas for the second time. Alongside the second Las Vegas Grand Prix, TAG Heuer has announced a new Monaco Chronograph in celebration of and inspired by the sights, sounds, and vibe of the desert oasis.
Set on a sporty rubber strap and cased in black DLC made of grade-2 titanium, this latest edition to the legendary Monaco collection features vibrant lacquered pink accents which punctuate the skeletonized dial. Framing the dial and the little glimpses of the movement beneath is one of the coolest date wheels around, which is also skeletonized, adding even more architectural depth and texture to the sporty façade.
Flipping the watch around reveals the Calibre Heuer 02 by way of a sapphire caseback. The TAG Heuer shield is engraved on the movement amidst Côtes de Genève and a DLC automatic rotor. But easily the most eye-catching and charming element of the movement is the pink lacquered column wheel itself, which is revealed just off center at 12:00.
Despite the fact that the Monaco was not intended as a racing watch when it was first released back in 1969, it has nevertheless become inextricably linked with all things motorsport. At a baseline, there’s just something so utterly sporty about the square case with its prominent pushers, especially when it’s donned on a textured rubber strap. But once you take that core design and modernize it with DLC titanium, a skeletonized dial, and bright, vibrant lacquered accents, the effect becomes undeniable. It feels like wearing a sports car on your wrist in the best way.
