The Low-Down
In 1967 Doxa engineers found an innovative and safe solution for no-compression diving by incorporating the US Navy no-decompression dive table recommendation in their SUB 300 watch. In fact, Doxa patented the two separate scales on their unidirectional bezel – one orange on the outer ‘depth’ ring and the other black on the inner ‘minutes’ ring. Besides the diving bezel, what differentiated SUB 300 was the bright orange dial. Legendary scuba diver Jacques Cousteau was so smitten by this dive watch, that he became an exclusive distributor of SUB 300 in the U.S.

IMHO
Even though Doxa has a cult following and has serious following within the diving community, they had stumbled in twenty teens, basically offering occasional limited editions. They also had some distribution changes within the U.S. Since 2020 all seems to be sorted out and the brand appears to be focused again on what they do best – create some kick ass diving watches in the medium price category.
