Sincere Fine Watches 70th Anniversary: Chopard Happy Sport The First is a Stylish Red Edition

In continuing the 70th anniversary celebrations of Sincere Fine Watches, Chopard unveils the stunning Happy Sport The First Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition. This limited edition watch, with only 30 pieces produced, marks a significant milestone for both the retailer and the maison, the latter in celebrating the enduring legacy of the Happy Sport collection, which was first introduced in 1993.

For the first time, the Happy Sport collection features a burgundy red dial, especially for the Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition. The limited edition piece retains the signature dancing diamonds and the “pebble-link” bracelet, adding a unique twist to the original design. The watch’s case and bracelet are crafted from Lucent Steel™, an anti-allergenic alloy with 80% recycled materials, offering enhanced brightness, durability, and scratch resistance, all within a 33mm-diameter case.

A happy beginning for Happy Sport

The original Happy Sport was the first watch to feature seven free-moving diamonds on a white dial. In fact, it was the collection that broke new ground by integrating diamonds into a steel watch, making diamond-studded timepieces more accessible and versatile for everyday wear.

The Chopard Happy Sport was introduced by Caroline Scheufele, Co-President and Artistic Director of Chopard, in 1993. Inspired by the concept of “dancing diamonds”, a design first seen in Chopard’s jewelry in the late 1970s, the Happy Sport featured free-floating diamonds encased between two sapphire crystals. This playful yet elegant feature became a hallmark of the collection, symbolizing joie de vivre and sophistication. The diamonds move freely with the wearer’s motion, creating a captivating and dynamic visual effect.

“I wanted a watch that I could wear all day long: at the gym, in the office, or for a dinner in town.”

– Caroline Scheufele, Co-President and Artistic Director of Chopard

A dial of ruby red radiance

Sincere Fine Watches chose the Happy Sport to celebrate its platinum jubilee, underscoring the timepiece’s timeless appeal. The burgundy red dial, adorned with Roman hour markers, is complemented by five cabochon-cut sapphires set on the lugs and crown, adding a striking visual element.

Typically I would leave the bold, red watches to the wrists of equally brazen femme fatale such as the glock-wielding Imperator Furiosa or the charmingly manipulative Catherine Tramell, whose wits alone may be enough to kill. But the vibrant cardinal hue, although traditionally associated with power, passion, and energy, is a fresh and daring color that’s a welcome move away from the conventional black, white, and blue dials nowadays.

Additionally, a pop of red is one that’s easily versatile, suitable for both formal and casual settings, making them a popular choice for those looking to make a statement with their wristwear. And diamonds to shake it all about? Yes, please.

The bracelet, crafted with four rows of polished pebbles, offers the flexibility of a mesh design, providing a sophisticated yet sporty aesthetic. The timepiece is powered by the Chopard 09.01-C self-winding movement that offers a 42-hour power reserve. The dimensions of the movement are carefully aligned with what Chopard describes as “the golden ratio” aka a measurement of “divine proportion”, resulting in the dainty 33mm-diameter case — an attention to detail that not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but is a size in current fashion.

The exclusivity of this timepiece is highlighted by the “One of 30” engraving on the caseback and Sincere’s 70th anniversary logo on the crystal. Priced at S$18,300, the Chopard Happy Sport The First Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition is available at all Sincere Fine Watches Boutiques.
