Introducing the Bulova Lunar Pilot 43.5 mm
Introducing the Bulova Lunar Pilot 43.5 mm
The Low-Down
American astronaut Dave Scott wore the Bulova chronograph during the Apollo 15 mission in 1971. Interestingly, he had to wear the watch on the lunar surface because his primary wristwatch, supplied by NASA, experienced crystal failure. The Bulova, being his backup watch, was not taken back by the government after the mission and was eventually auctioned off in 2015 for over USD 1.6 million.

The smaller size of the Lunar Pilot, however, does not compromise its attractive features. The dial still has multiple levels of construction to distinguish its functions and scales, with the tachymeter scale, minute track, and sub-dials all on different levels. This improves legibility and adds visual depth, giving the watch a more premium look.

IMHO
The Bulova Lunar Pilot offers great value for its price point of under USD 900 Its rich history, genuine provenance, and high-tech movement make for a compelling and accessible package, especially considering the fact that it comes equipped with both a stainless steel bracelet and a leather NATO strap.
