This year, A. Lange & Söhne proudly marks the 30th anniversary of its iconic Lange 1 model with a special exhibition, “30 Years of the Lange 1”. From October 24 to 29, hosted at ION Atrium in Singapore, this exhibition celebrates the legacy of the Lange 1, where guests will have the opportunity to explore the rich history and technical mastery of one of the most distinctive timepieces in fine watchmaking. 

The revival of a Saxon legacy

The introduction of the Lange 1 in 1994 was a defining moment in A. Lange & Söhne’s history. The brand’s re-establishment in the early 1990s after World War II signaled a resurgence of Saxon watchmaking prowess. The Lange 1, with its distinct layout and oversized date, the latter an homage to the five-minute clock at the Semper Opera House in Dresden, the watch embodied A. Lange & Söhne’s commitment to technical and aesthetic excellence, with features such as a three-quarter plate, hand-engraved balance cock, and twin mainspring barrels ensuring precision and power reserve.

The exhibition will present key references from the Lange 1 collection, illustrating how the model has evolved over the past 30 years while maintaining its core identity. Visitors will be able to admire the original Lange 1 from 1994, A. Lange & Söhne’s pivotal piece.

What to expect at the Lange 1 exhibition

Among the highlights of the exhibition is the Lange 1 “25th Anniversary” series, a collection of 10 models introduced in 2019. Each watch in the series is crafted from white gold, with blue accents that evoke the Saxon heritage of A. Lange & Söhne. The Lange 1 “25th Anniversary” model is particularly noteworthy, featuring a hand-engraved hinged cuvette that adds a layer of artisanal elegance to the timepiece.

Also on site will be live demonstrations by a master engraver from A. Lange & Söhne’s manufacture in Glashütte. These demonstrations will offer visitors an intimate look at the meticulous craftsmanship, from intricate hand engraving to detailed decorative works.

In addition to the exhibition’s physical displays, a special video campaign featuring a four-part series of creatives, entrepreneurs, and design leaders from the Asia-Pacific, including three distinguished Singaporeans, who will share their personal connections to A. Lange & Söhne watches. These individuals, who are also watch owners and enthusiasts, will discuss their admiration for the brand’s meticulous craftsmanship and timeless design.
