The TAG Heuer Monaco Goes Racing Green

TAG Heuer’s new Monaco Chronograph Racing Green marks the second chapter in the brand’s “Racing Monaco” series, paying homage to the iconic liveries of classic racing cars. This new edition follows the Racing Blue of 2023 (dedicated to French motorsport), and now honors the British tradition with a striking green dial.

In the early 20th century, racing drivers competed in cars adorned with national colors rather than sponsor logos. British cars bore green, Italy’s sported red, Germany’s white (later silver), and France wore blue. These liveries became timeless symbols, and TAG Heuer has embraced this history by infusing it into the design of the Monaco Racing Green.

A design inspired by classic racing aesthetics

The “British Racing Green” color is synonymous with British motorsport teams and car manufacturers, harking back to the Napier 50’s victory in the 1902 Gordon Bennett Cup.

12 dot markers and main hour hands emit blue Super-LumiNova in the dark

In the new Monaco Chronograph, the Racing Green color largely takes residence in the 30-minute and 60-second totalizers. The rest of the dial is in silver with a sunray-brushed finish, and adorned with eight polished, silvered hour markers and 12 light green Super-LumiNova® dot markers. The striking yellow stripe on the faceted baton marker at 12 o’clock mirrors the yellow central chronograph hand that adds a pop of color.

Now, the Monaco Chronograph has gone green before (although in the Calibre 12). Other iterations included the 2016 Monaco Boutique Edition that featured off-center white stripes, and prior to that in 2010, a 100-piece Monaco Chronograph for the third Singapore Grand Prix in a black dial and green accents on the hands. The more recent green-dial Monaco chrono was a gradient number that was made in 500 pieces for the 12th edition of the Monaco Historic Grand Prix in 2021.

The limited edition is presented in a custom-designed black packaging with vivid yellow details

Housed in a sandblasted grade-2 titanium case is the automatic-winding Calibre 11 that operates at 4Hz and offers a 40-hour power reserve. As per the original 1969 design, the crown is positioned on the left-side of the case.

The TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Racing Green is a limited edition, with only 1,000 pieces available. Each watch is priced at CHF 9,100.
