24Ours with Zedd: an exclusive first look into the music producer’s collection
Even if you’re not familiar with his stage name, you’ve definitely heard Zedd’s music. The multi-platinum music producer and DJ, born Anton Zaslavski, has been a fixture in the world of electronic dance music (EDM) and pop culture for over a decade. A staple on the airwaves, his sound is defined by vibrant melodies, sharp production, and an undeniable sense of joy. He’s collaborated with some of the biggest names in pop music — from Lady Gaga to Ariana Grande — and won a Grammy Award for his breakout song ‘Clarity’.
Like many others in the music industry, Zedd is friends and creative collaborators with John Mayer, probably the most prolific collector in the entertainment business. A fellow musician and connoisseur of fine timepieces, Mayer has long been known for his vast collection of grail watches, and it’s no surprise that his passion has had a ripple effect on his peers. So, it makes perfect sense that Zedd, who has a penchant for all things luxury and design, has followed Mayer down this horological rabbit hole.
In fact, it was this shared passion that connected Zedd to Yoni Ben-Yehuda, the Head of Watches at the New York-based boutique Material Good and friend of Revolution, who has become a trusted guide and friend. “It all starts with Anton (who goes by his stage name, Zedd) having amazing taste — in design, watches, art, and homes,” says Yoni.
As you’ll see, Zedd’s collection is a reflection of both his music and personality: joyous, vibrant, and uplifting. For him, watches aren’t about the flex — it’s about curating pieces that evoke emotion. His close collaboration with Zedd has resulted in a collection that’s as eclectic as it is impressive, spanning from the uber-bling hype pieces to the deeply horological.
If you haven’t seen the video yet, take the time to do so — we promise it’s worth it. Meanwhile, here are three watches we were most surprised to see in his collection:
Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse 5738/51G-001
The Ellipse isn’t necessarily the first Patek Philippe model that comes to mind when discussing producers of electronic dance music, but if we had to choose a variant that did, this would be it.
Released in 2021, the 5738/51G features a champleve Grand Feu black enamel dial with white gold accents, elaborately engraved with floral motifs, a theatrical demonstration of the level of metier d’arts Patek Philippe is capable of. The white gold case, measuring just 34.5 × 39.5mm and only 6.58mm thin, is a demure frame for the ornate dial. The result is at once sophisticated and spirited, fit for a raving connoisseur.
Omega De Ville Tourbillon Master Chronometer 529.53.43.22.01.001
Now, here’s something you don’t see every day. The De Ville Tourbillon Master Chronometer made history in 2020 as the first tourbillon to earn Master Chronometer certification, boasting incredible magnetic resistance of up to 15,000 gauss.
Its defining feature is the central tourbillon, cleverly framed by a fluted gold ring that doubles as a seconds sub-dial. Powered by the hand-wound calibre 2640, it incorporates the brand’s signature Co-Axial escapement and is adorned with exquisite haute finishing — sure to satisfy any horological connoisseur. We’ve explored the calibre in depth, and suffice it to say, this piece is for the true watch enthusiast — no hype involved.
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Music 77601BC.YY.D343CA.01
That a Royal Oak would be in Zedd’s collection was no surprise, however what did surprise us was how perfectly Zedd the Offshore Selfwinding Music really is.
In his possession is the 37mm white gold case and gem-set bezel. Look closely into the dial and you’ll notice that the equalizer pattern, like what you’d find in a recording studio’s soundboard, are invisibly set with perfectly color-matched “Harmony” cut stones. On the bezel and dial combined, this reference is set with 166 stones totalling 3.7 carats. Sure, it’s not a daily driver for most of us, unless your day-to-day consists of playing music to sold-out crowds.
