Sincere Fine Watches 70th Anniversary: Moritz Grossmann Presents An Exclusive HAMATIC Astral
All that glitters is not gold — but copper, crystal, and understated German beauty.
Sincere Fine Watches celebrates its Platinum Jubilee this year, marking seventy years of exceptional service in luxury timepieces. Themed “A New Era,” this significant achievement highlights the journey of the pioneering retailer, showcasing its endurance, development, and unwavering dedication to the craft of watchmaking.
As part of its Platinum Jubilee celebrations, Sincere Fine Watches is launching The Horology Lab, an initiative dedicated to horological education and appreciation. Building on the success of the former Sincere Watch Academy, this program aims to cultivate a deeper understanding of the intricate craft of watchmaking.
Running from May to November, The Horology Lab will feature a rich calendar of educational events across three main pillars — namely, the first being the Experiential Atelier, which offers hands-on workshops; secondly, Fireside Chats, a series of thought-provoking discussions with industry experts, and thirdly, a series of educational lectures that delve into subjects such as astronomy, the history of timekeeping, and watch complications.
But on a more tangible note, Sincere is partnering with prestigious watchmakers to launch limited-edition Platinum Jubilee timepieces. The first of these exclusives is a collaboration with Moritz Grossmann in presenting the HAMATIC Astral Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition that captivates with a mesmerizing goldstone dial.
A Special Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition by Mortiz Grossmann
The dial, a first for Moritz Grossmann’s watches, is reminiscent of a celestial night sky. Against a backdrop of midnight blue, luminous dots in hues of gold and blue mirror the galaxy’s stars, evoking a celestial wonder.
Notably, this sparkling visual is uncharacteristic, although one of extreme welcome, from the Glashütte manufacture. Of its well-structured cases, fine elegant hands and conservative, albeit expertly-finished dials, this new glinting number could be a hint of what’s to come from Moritz Grossmann’s workshops — a series of the asymmetrical Tefnuts outfitted in hardstone dials, perhaps?
Well, before we jump ahead with speculation, what lies before us is this exhibition of a stunning new canvas.
One Goldstone Is Not Like the Other
Goldstone is created by heating glass to a temperature that dissolves copper oxide. As the glass cools slowly, copper ions congregate and crystallize within the glass.
The fusion of these elements occurs under controlled conditions, preventing overheating and ensuring the formation of delicate crystalline structures. The slower the cooling process, the larger the copper crystals grow, enhancing the material’s glittering effect.
The resulting concoction all sounds very dramatic on paper, but the use of goldstone in this time-only HAMATIC shows off subtle radiance, thanks to the miniature specks that glisten unmethodically through depth of heated layers. Against gold-tone appliqués and the vintage “M. Grossmann” logo, the dial exudes a timeless elegance that extends to the rose gold poiré-shaped hands, adding a touch of sophistication to the overall aesthetic.
At the heart of this special HAMATIC edition lies the caliber 106.0, which runs on an innovative hammer-style pendulum system harnessing kinetic energy from the wearer’s movements. With a power reserve of 72 hours, the movement is housed in a 41mm 18K rose gold case.
Over on the caseback, the watch features a laser-engraved logo symbolizing Sincere’s 70th-anniversary. Made in a series of 10 exclusive pieces, the Moritz Grossmann HAMATIC Astral Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition is available exclusively at Sincere Fine Watches and the SHH Boutique, with a retail price of SGD$102,000.
