Maurice Lacroix Aikon #tide
The Aikon model has been a Maurice Lacroix favorite since their successful launch in 2016 as a reincarnation of the discontinued Calypso collection. The focus has always been on precision timekeeping with wearing comfort while offering a strong design aesthetic of 1970s sports watches. The newest Maurice Lacroix Aikon #tide with a range of 10 colors, including four with a diamond bezel, offers fun, bold colors just in time for spring and summer. Besides being fun watches, they also carry the message of social responsibility in partnership with #tide to clean up the plastic waste in our oceans.

The softer references offer a choice of a pretty pink, fun fuchsia, sky blue or sea green dial, bezel and lugs on a white strap with diamonds for indexes that add a bit of glamor to the sporty feel.

Innovation for Change
While the variety of bold colors and the dazzle of diamonds may catch the eye, it’s the planet-saving innovation that has the watch world taking notice. Maurice Lacroix has committed to a long-term partnership with #tide, a Swiss-based company working with scientists to turn the plastic bound for our oceans into useful products across a variety of industries. As part of the watchmaker’s commitment to diverting 10 million plastic bottles from polluting the oceans, the bezel, case, caseback, crown, end-piece and buckle are all made with an innovative new composite of #tide ocean-bound upcycled plastic combined with glass fiber. The material is twice as hard as standard plastic and has a carbon footprint that is six times less than that of PET. Each of the Aikon #tide models will consume 17 bottles’ worth of upcycled plastic, including the packaging that is completely made from #tide material.

The Aikon #tide is a fun, colorful collection of watches, but also a promise that Maurice Lacroix values sustainability for the preservation of our Earth. And personally, for me it will be a perfect guilty-pleasure watch in my collection this summer, minus all the guilt.
